What’s the Cranham Beast?
A weekend of Trail Races to make your lungs feel like something is chasing you through the Woods

The Cranham Beast is a weekend of trail events organised by both Gloucester AC and Cotswold Allrunners. It takes in some of the most hilly, but beautiful, and stunning part of the Cotswolds. The event gives runners the opportunity, to run over commonland, through private woodlands, run up the famous Cheese Rollers Hill (Coopers Hill), get spectacular Cotswold views and visit local villages such as Sheepscombe, Witcombe, Birdlip and of course Cranham whilst out on a run.

History
The Cranham Beast is the culmination of two runners chatting whilst in a local Sports Shop, commenting how a 2 day tough off-road event is just what the month of August needs. So, this led to the 61st Cranham Boundary Chase, formerly on road, becoming a 5 mile Trail Race for 2012 and then adding two new race distances on the 2nd day. The name of the event containing “Beast”, suggests this is not a walk in the Park, but then again you runners love the challenge. So here it is …….

Day One – Saturday 9th August ’14
On Saturday it’s the Cranham 5, a tough 5 mile trail race starting and finishing on Cranham Common, taking you though Saltridge Woods, including hay bales & other obstacles

The Cranham Feast which includes stalls, games, teas and beer tent from midday and a Deer Roast from 4pm onwards.

“A great day for all the Family”

Day Two – Sunday 10th August ’14
Then on Sunday there’s the Baby Beast, 1.5 miles Junior run, the Mummy Beast, 8 miles & the Daddy Beast, an exceptionally hilly 17 mile trail race through Witcombe, up Coopers Hill into Workmans Woods & up onto Cranham Common, including lots of hills. Both days have Junior runs.

** Camping available at Cranham Scouts Centre (the Start/Finish of the Sunday runs) including Breakfast and Post Race BBQ
