This is a tough, ‘find your own way’ run. There will be helpful markers at awkward places and several water stations, but the onus is on you to follow the Coast Path signs. These have been greatly improved in the last couple of years. There is a short sharp climb near the start followed by undulating tracks through coastal woodland to the first water station which is at County Gate at the top of a stiff climb.

The next section starts through open fields with great views of The Bristol Channel and Wales before joining a track then a road before dropping down to the quaint church of Culbone from where it is generally downwards to Porlock Weir where there is the next water station. In front of you there is beautiful Porlock Bay with its bird sanctuary and shingle beach which leads to the next water station at the incredibly Olde Worlde charm of Bossington.

Take some sustenance and a deep breath here as looming above you is the long climb to Selworthy Beacon which will take every ache in your body and double it. You need to be both physically and mentally tough for this little hill. At the top there is the last water station and from there it is undulating then downhill to Minehead Promenade.

Run towards Butlins (Big white tent) where you turn right up Seaward Way running past Macdonalds and Tesco before turning right into the Hospital Grounds.

Turn left between tennis courts then over the playing fields to the finish where a shower and lovely free refreshments await you.

Somerset at 9.00 am.
Entry Fees: Affiliated Club Runners £10.00. Unaffiliated Runners £11.00.
(This includes bus to the start for pre-booked runners.)
‘Entry On The Day’ costs nothing extra but if there is no seat on the bus the entry
fee is the same so early entry is recommended.
