Congratulations to all the 134 runners who completed Southville RC's second running of the Nightingale Nightmare, our spooky 10k race around the trails of Leigh Woods.

As if the mud, the hills and the twisting trails weren't terrifying enough, all the marshals made a superb effort to create a Halloween atmosphere with horrific costumes and decorations at every turn.

Thanks to all those who organised, marshalled, ran - and of course to those who provided the free cake for all runners at the end.

There were too many amazing costumes to list, but special mentions must go to the two first prize winners: Andrew Ventham's evil nurse among the runners and Emma Brown's headless marshal among the organisers.

The winners of the actual running bit were as follows:

Men: 1st James Kennedy 37:51, 2nd Paul Jefferson 38:20 (Bristol & West RC), 3rd Neil Williams 38:46 (Bristol & West RC)
Women: 1st Kerry Firth 43:30 (Southville RC), 2nd Alexia Trafford 45:19 (Highgate Harriers), 3rd Kate Wray 46:34 (Shelton Striders)

Category winners:
MV40: Paul Jefferson (Bristol and West RC)
FV40: Claire Sapwell (Bristol and West RC)
MV50: Jonathan Barnard
FV50: Jules Smailes (Nailsea RC)
MV60: Jess Newton (Southville RC)
